The results are in…
So I got the results back from my covid test, and…
* excessive drumroll *
I DO NOT have the novel coronavirus. Guess it was just a normal cold + some allergies.
And I’m very grateful for that. Because I’m not sure I could have handled another few days stuck in my house.
Saturday night, I found myself going down a YouTube rabbithole. And it was honestly a blast.
I was watching live performances and music videos — which is something I don’t normally do.
While doing that, I thought back to 2015 when I went to Bonnaroo.
One of my favorite performances there was Kendrick Lamar.
Prior to Bonnaroo, I’d only listened to him a little. But during the festival, I became a fan.
He performed with a live band and absolutely KILLED IT.
So I searched to see if there were any videos of his performance. I didn’t find any “official,” high-quality videos…
But I did find a few shot by people in the crowd.
The camera work was shaky. The videos were blurry. But the audio was actually pretty good.
In an effort to “relive the glory days,” I watched a few of the videos. And I realized something:
I miss dancing in crowds. Like, a lot.
See, while I’m not a great dancer…
I actually LOVE dancing — especially in a crowd.
And I know I’m not the only one…
Because if you paid attention to the election results this weekend…
You probably noticed that people were dancing in the streets to celebrate Biden’s win.
And if you’ve paid any attention to any other news at all this year…
You’ve probably also noticed that we’re in the middle of a pandemic — which illustrates my point perfectly:
Even during the middle of a pandemic, you CANNOT keep people from connecting with one another.
It’s a natural human trait. We NEED connection.
Whether we’re blitzed out of our minds at a music festival…
Or celebrating a political victory in the streets…
In those moments when we feel something profound — one of the main things we want is to experience it with someone else.
And I think that’s been one of the real tragedies of this pandemic (aside from the obvious):
The isolation and lack of connection we feel.
Your coworkers, customers, clients — they’re feeling it too.
So, oddly enough, if you’ve felt a bit isolated this year…
Welcome! You’re in good company. And you’re not alone. :)
Just something to keep in mind as you go through your week.
Robert
P.S. It occurs to me that I should probably include a call-to-action in these emails if I’m gonna send them. So, speaking of connecting with people…
If you want email copy that connects you to your audience like a shared joint connects two strangers at a music festival…
I know a guy. (It’s me.)
I’m not taking on any new client work until December, but if you have a project you think I might be able to help with…
This was also published as an email to my list. If you want to join…
